CarliAnn Kooi is a Class of 2028 equestrian athlete competing in the hunter, equitation, and jumper rings at the 3’3” and 3’6” levels.

The 2026 season has been a significant year for CarliAnn. She has earned championship honors and qualified for six major finals, including the Adequan/USEF Junior Hunter National Championship, IHJA “A” Medal Finals, ASPCA Maclay National Championship, Dover/USEF Hunter Seat Medal Final, and USHJA Jumping Seat and IHSA/USHJA Hunter Seat Medal Finals.

CarliAnn is passionate about horsemanship and committed to continually developing as a rider. Her goal is to continue her athletic and academic career as a member of a collegiate equestrian team.

CarliAnn competes with Danny in the Junior Hunter divisions, earning championship honors in the 3’3” on several occasions.

Their partnership has brought them to several National Hunter Derby competitions and qualifying for Junior Hunter Finals, as well as competing at Junior Hunter Finals.

Gatsby is CarliAnn’s primary equitation partner.

Together, CarliAnn and Gatsby have earned wins and top placings in the ASPCA Maclay, Dover/USEF Hunter Seat Medal, USHJA 3’3” Jumping Seat Medal, and Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) Equitation classes, including the WIHS Equitation Classic Jumper Phase. Their success throughout the 2026 season resulted in multiple national finals qualifications.

Hunters

Joey is a six-year-old developing hunter that CarliAnn is helping bring along and introduce to the show ring. Their partnership has given her the opportunity to develop a young horse through each stage of his progression, building his confidence, experience, and consistency both at home and in competition.

In just his fifth horse show, CarliAnn and Joey earned Reserve Champion in the Children’s Hunters in a field of 14 horses. They continued their progress in the spring, earning Champion in Children’s Hunters.

Following a successful summer, CarliAnn made the decision to move Joey into the Junior Hunters, beginning the next stage of his development. They plan to start the 2027 season together in the Junior Hunters while continuing to build Joey’s experience and their partnership.

CarliAnn transitioned from Neuqua Valley High School to Liberty University Online Academy, allowing her to balance a rigorous academic program with the travel and training demands of national-level equestrian competition.

• Re-enter the jumper ring for 2027 and develop as a versatile three-ring rider
